This morning, we went to the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History which tells the story of the Atomic Age, from early research of nuclear development through today’s peaceful uses of nuclear technology. Roger especially enjoyed trying out their flight simulator.  He was able to fly it and land without crashing.

After lunch, we drove part of the Turquoise Trail which is a scenic back road between Albuquerque and Santa Fe and found an interesting museum, called Tinkertown Museum. It began with miniature wood carved figures and scenes which began as a hobby in 1962 by Ross Ward who said “it was not intended as a public display, until your interest helped build ‘our museum’”.  He slowly added to it over 40 years.

We also took in the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum which tells the history of Ballooning and how and why balloons fly.

Santa Fe to Albuquerque, NM

We packed up Monday morning and headed south to Albuquerque, NM, taking a little side trip about half way to visit Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument.  We hiked the trails a couple hours enjoying these incredible rock formations.

We checked into the campground at Kirtland AFB early afternoon and after setting up camp we went to get Lorraine's Military ID renewed. Then we drove though Old Town Albuquerque on Central St/Route 66.   We had dinner at the Route 66 Diner and went back to camp to do laundry.
